After indulging in some some sesame beef and rice, Scott couldn't hold in his burp any longer. He let it escape, resembling a low baritone rumble.
Before Scott could catch his own breath and pardon himself, Connor raises his eyebrows at his dad and asks, "Um, Dad, what do you say?"

I was cleaning up the kitchen, putting the dishes in the dishwasher, sweeping the floors, quickly mopping up any visible dirt, and then suddenly, I sneezed.
From the family room, Connor yells to me, "Bless you!"
"Whew!" I sniffled and then blew my nose on a paper towel.
Connor, now in a parental tone, yelled again in my direction, "Um, Mandy. You need to say 'thank you'."
