A long time ago, I decided that I wanted to learn to quilt. And how else better to learn than to: pick out a pattern, buy a book on quilting, get a sewing machine for Christmas, buy the fabric, and get started!
Well, let me tell you. There are A LOT better ways to learn. Like buy the book FIRST, THEN pick out the pattern. I chose such an intricate pattern, that it took me about a year to finish about six blocks. Which wasn't even a FORTH of the whole quilt. Needless to say, I never finished the quilt (which is big that I even let the unfinished quilt go), but in the end I learned HOW to quilt. And even better than that, I learned the exact quilt pattern that I will never, ever use again.
Like quilting, I decided to make my wedding invitations this year. I'd never done it before, and heck, it seemed easy enough.
And like quilting, it WAS easy enough. Just tedious. Tedious as hell.
So with invitations getting finished, and the rest of the wedding plans continuing, it's seems like we've been quite busy. Let see...
- Scott is gone for a couple of weeks working out of town. I'm balancing a busy schedule with the dogs/household chores/sitcoms I can't miss in the evenings.
- I'm putting the dogs in a fund raising dog show this weekend. Matching outfits and leashes were a necessity.
- I'm finishing up wedding details. Finished the program template and just need to verify a few name spellings before printing them out. Received par of the centerpieces and the aisle runner in the mail. Ordered cute, unique favors for the guests over the internet. Payed some wedding bills. Stressed out over finances.
- I've set up swimming lessons for Connor, which start in a week. Coordinated with his mother on the details for when she needs to take him on her weeks.
- We now have a new-to-us Class C RV that we've cleaned out. A 1974 Dodge Lindy. It's in such great shape and I just had to give it a good wipe-down. I've stocked it with the essential camping items, and we've planned two camping trips already. Connor is just as excited as we are and can't wait to sleep in his "camping home."
- We have yet to plan our honeymoon... somewhere warm and probably not until a few months after the wedding. Still researching and hoping that Ed McMahon to stop by with one of those big cardboard checks.
- Work has picked up since the slow summer months. One of my projects is under construction, and I think that the contractor feels weird about working with a woman engineer. It's been a little stressful anyway.
- My very best friend is going through a divorce. With her controlling manipulator exhusband. It seems like this divorce has been taking forever. And the fact that he still tries to win her back and refuses to work with her on the divorce makes my blood boil most minutes of every day.
- I've taken up lap swimming again. Love the cardio, and with my few extra pounds around the waist, I can't wait to fit comfortably in my only expensive pair of jeans again.
- I've weaned myself off of my anti-anxiety medicine. (A year ago, I started taking it to eliminate anxiety attacks, stabilize my O.C.D. tendencies, and to just RELAX my mind. I hated the fact that I thought too much about small details, and worried too often about everyone and everything.) So now, my body is adjusting into a new being. And although I now wake up every two hours during the nights, I've learned that it feels good and can feel normal to not think or worry so much. I may be crazy about doing this right before our wedding. I will have to get back to you on this.
So, long blog short, I'm a little behind on posting. But at least you now have an update.
(At least I'm not as bad as my best friend, she typically waits 2 years in-between blog posts. Thank gawd for texting. At least I know that she's still alive.)
