The True Meaning of Fixer-Upper: Our First Fifth-Wheel

My kind, benevolent dad offered up his old fifth wheel to us. We got excited! Since we had recently been looking at financing a brand new toy hauler, the financial aspect of a FREE fifth wheel enticed us. And even though my dad mentioned that we would probably have to clean it up a bit, we didn't want to pass up this family fun opportunity.

Now, I guess I should explain... See, my dad had been using this fifth wheel as a storage shed for a million and a half years. Plus, I don't think that it had been cleaned since 1983, when it came off Fleetwood's assembly line.

First, we had to clear out the junk that he never thought he would ever need to clean out. (Maybe he was just going to burn the trailer, I'm not sure. Although I'm glad he didn't try, we actually found loads of raw gun powder somewhere among the mess...)

After, we cleared out the trailer, we found... well, a trailer! But now we have an idea of what needs to be replaced, covered, cleaned and such. And we realized, we definitely have our work ahead of us.

We are excited though! This fifth-wheel has potential! We can't wait to get started ripping up the carpet and linoleum.

We'll keep you updated...
